Playlist Privacy Settings
Playlist Privacy Levels
- Private: this playlist will require your username and password or a unique highly-secure private authentication token which is generated for you. You should not share your password or authentication token with anyone else, so this playlist is only for you. For private playlists, only the podcast feed link will work without being signed in. Web links for playlist items which are only associated with private playlists will only be visible to you. (default)
Example (token-based authentication):https://podqueue.fm/users/example/playlists/e7fN66FZKFH0E-Ht9H8_Cw/podqueue.rss
Example (password-based authentication):https://example:password@podqueue.fm/users/example/playlists/podqueue.rss
- Unlisted: this playlist will have a unique, randomly-generated, unguessable URL which is accessible with no authentication, available to anyone who has the URL. You can share this playlist privately with friends. Your "private" feed link for this playlist will continue to work with this setting. Links to playlist items which are associated with unlisted playlists will be visible to anyone who knows the link.
Example:https://podqueue.fm/users/example/playlists/rumbling-foggy-parrot/podqueue.rss
- Public: this playlist will be accessible with no authentication at a predictable URL. You can share this playlist publicly. Your "private" and "unlisted" feed links for this playlist will continue to work with this setting. Links to playlist items which are associated with public playlists will be publicly visible.

Examples of how playlist privacy impacts the privacy of items on that playlist
- A private playlist with an episode that is only on private playlists: the episode link will only be visible by you while signed in
- A private playlist with an episode that is also on an unlisted playlist: the episode link will be visible by anyone who knows the link
- A private playlist with an episode that is also on a public playlist: the episode link will be publicly discoverable and visible
- An unlisted playlist with an episode that is only on unlisted playlists: the episode link will be visible by anyone who knows the link
- An unlisted playlist with an episode that is also on a private playlist: the episode link will be visible by anyone who knows the link
- An unlisted playlist with an episode that is also on a public playlist: the episode link will be publicly discoverable and visible
- A public playlist with an episode that is only on public playlists: the episode link will be publicly discoverable and visible
- A public playlist with an episode that is also on a private playlist: the episode link will be publicly discoverable and visible
- A public playlist with an episode that is also on an unlisted playlist: the episode link will be publicly discoverable and visible
For example, let’s say you have the following settings:
- Your PodQueue playlist is private
- Your Liked playlist is public
- Your Archive playlist is unlisted
This would impact the privacy and visibility of episodes you add to PodQueue like so:
- Episodes just added to PodQueue would only be visible to you while signed in
- Episodes which you’ve liked would be publicly discoverable and visible
- Episodes which you’ve archived would be visible by anyone who knows the link
